Tanner Davenport

Born in Chillicothe, Missouri.

Raised in rural Chillicothe, Missouri.

Served 4 ½ years in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Earned the rank of Corporal.

Served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Scout Section Leader (Infantry Rifleman).  Responsibilities included route and zone reconnaissance, evaluation and breach of routes and obstacles, observation, surveillance and reporting, calling for supporting fires, land navigation, communications, and the implementation and coordination of personnel and weapons organic to a scout section (SMAW/LAW/AT4 rockets, M107 SASR, M203, IAR, M240, M4, M32 MGL, claymores, and hand grenades).

Stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA.

Deployed to Afghanistan with 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion (LAR) as platoon IED Detection Dog Handler.

Deployed to South America as part of Special Purpose MAGTF USS America as a Rifle Squad Leader to conduct joint training with South American Marines in four countries.

Awarded the Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, NATO ISAF medal, and various others.

Moved to Columbia to attend Mizzou in 2015.

Studying Mechanical Engineering.

Member of Mizzou Student Veterans Association, SALUTE National Veterans Honor Society, Pi Tau Sigma National Mechanical Engineering Honor Society.
