Traci Payne grew up in the small town of Fayette, Missouri. She originally applied and was accepted to several colleges and universities, including Mizzou, but ultimately decided to join the Air Force.
Traci spent 13 years serving on active duty, first as a logistics specialist, then as a special missions flight attendant, where she enjoyed traveling around the world with the nation’s leaders.
Though she enjoyed her time in the military, she found it hard to attend school while juggling constant travel and a young daughter. Finally, she decided to leave active duty to fulfill her dream of a degree.
Traci returned to Missouri and enrolled at Mizzou in the fall of 2012 to pursue a Bachelor’s degree from the journalism school. She is currently a junior strategic communication major and expects to graduate in May 2016.
Traci also serves with the 131st Bomb Wing at Whiteman Air Force Base as a public affairs specialist with the Missouri Air National Guard.
